What is Millers Yard?
A health, education and training centre dedicated to all aspects of positive living. Good health, learning, caring for the environment and supporting our community are all aspects of this.
The centre provides room space for:
- complementary therapists
- health and fitness classes
- training courses
- meeting rooms& workshops
- conferences& exhibitions
- community arts projects
The building comprises of four treatment rooms, a dance studio/ conference hall, a good-sized meeting room and a coffee bar, selling high quality organic/fairtrade drinks, tasty soups and lunches. Set in a quiet courtyard, a peaceful oasis just off the busy "Gillygate", with ample space for bicycles and next to an extensive car park.
Historically Millers Yard has been the focal point of the community, which is in keeping with our ethos and is something that we want to build upon.
Our aim is to provide a centre within the beautiful city of York that people will use and love as much as we do, offering services and activities that will compliment each other and promote a healthier and more positive way of life. A warm and friendly environment in which people can work, receive treatments, attend classes or workshops, or relax and enjoy one of our delicious drinks.
Since opening in 2007, Millers Yard has gone from strength to strength. In 2009 we went into partnership with The Blueberry Academy to set up MY Eco Cafe, which is a training cafe for adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities that supports people into employment. My Eco Cafe is an extremely successful venture and we are continuing to work with other organisations and agencies to train and qualify the adults that attend. In 2010 we voluteered our services toorganise and re-develop York Peace Festival and making it an annual and sustainable event.
From Easter 2011 we're opening The Melbourne Centre, on Fishergate. A fully accessible, purpose built centre, with 2 large studio's spaces, top of the range audio and conference equipment making the Melbourne the perfect place to hold corporate and community meetings / events and groups, focusing on health & well-being, arts & culture, learning & leisure and employment preparation opportunities.
