Flamenco Dance - Adults

When: Thursday evenings

This course aims to give students the opportunity to learn one of the most popular and sensual dance in the Spanish world. Students will be involved in a pleasant dance environment, rich in music, rhythms and body expression.

During the course students will work on basic dance techniques such as posture, body balance, hand, arm and hip movements; basic stamps and clapping. Students will develop coordination and rhythm skills with the choreography, which is already incorporated in the Andalusian culture.

No dance experience and no partner required

By the end of the course you should be able to...

  •  Learn one Sevillana dance (They are four elegant dances that take place in Seville at Easter        time in one the most famous Spanish festivals).

  •  Move your hands and arms in a Flamenco style.

  •  Move your hips in a Latin rhythm.

  •  Be able to clap Sevillanas rhythm.

 Structure of the class

  • Warm up
  • Body balance and posture
  • Arm and hand technique
  • Hips movements and spinning exercises.
  • Palmas (clapping and rhythm)
  • Basic foot work
  • Sevillana choreography.

What to wear?

Men and women can wear comfortable clothing and low solid heel shoes or boots.

For this term students won’t need to wear Flamenco outfits or Flamenco shoes.
