Hello, I'm Corinne.
I'm a complementary therapist working here at Millers Yard; I also have a treatment room at home in Thorganby, ten miles south of York, and can do home visits for those people who require it.
The therapies I practise are Reflexology, Bowen, Emmett, Daoyin Tao and Hopi Ear Candling. These can benefit almost everyone by helping with a wide range of conditions. They are holistic in that they can help the whole body and can give a sense of well-being. Please see below for more details of each one.
Background
I worked as a pharmacy technician for many years at York hospital but had always been interested in complementary therapies. After having Reflexology myself and finding how effective it was I decided to become a practioner.
As my interest grew, one therapy led to another and then, having pets of my own, I became interested in treating animals.
Accordingly, I have also completed a three day course of Bowen for cats and dogs, enabling me to treat my own animals. This year I hope to complete a practitioner course, enabling me to treat other people’s pets. Helping people or animals get well is, I find, greatly satisfying.
Training
Reflexology: I qualified in February 2000 with The British School of Reflexology, run by Ann Gillanders.
I then went on to complete a course in Vertical Reflexology with Lynne Booth and a further two Reflexology courses, tailored for people with cancer and multiple sclerosis (M.S.), with Lee Anthony Taylor.
I have experience of working with M.S. clients as I provide cover for holidays at ‘Woodlands’, the M.S. Respite Centre in York.
March 2009 I completed training in Advanced Reflexology with Tony Porter and the only therapist on his register of Advanced Reflexologists in the North Yorkshire.
Bowen: I qualified in Bowen in May 2002 with Bowtech.
In June 2003 I completed a course in ‘Neurostructural Integration Technique’ (Advanced Bowen), run by Michael Nixon-Livy; this is based on Tom Bowen’s later work.
I went on to complete a course on ‘Fascia Bowen’, which can be very beneficial for children with special needs such as, cerebral palsy, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, dyspraxia etc. To view a 7 minute videoon Bowen click here
Daoyin Tao®: In May 2004 I qualified in Daoyin Tao® with Anna-Louise Haigh.
This is a Chinese face, neck and shoulder massage.
Emmett Technique 2007 with Ross Emmett
Ross Emmett has been teaching his technique in Australia and New Zealand for some time now and came to this country in April 2007 for the first time to teach his technique. Thus I am one of the first therapists in the UK to be taught his technique and so far I have found it to be very effective, in particular for muscular- skeletal problems.
Hopi Ear Candling July 2008
I am fully trained, and registered with each of the therapies’ regulating bodies such as ‘Embody’, who register professional therapists.
I am also certificated in First Aid and fully insured.
The first treatment for any therapy will be slightly longer because I will need some details of your medical history.
