THAI YOGA HERBAL MASSAGE

(Please see Thai Yoga Massage listing for general history andtheory)

This Thai technique known as “prakhob” combines Thai Yoga Massage with the healing effects of various aromatic and therapeutic Thai herbs, roots and minerals which are selected and then handmade into compresses, steamed and then applied to various “Sen” (energy) lines and pressure points to alleviate various conditions. Examples of Thai herbs that are used are cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, eucalyptus, fennel, ginger, jasmine, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves and nutmeg.

The heat of the compresses work in a similar way to the use of “Moxa” in Chinese medicine, as specific therapy points are stimulated by the heat to treat particular complaints. The use of the heat can be very relaxing for the muscles, and soothing for the emotions, and the combination of herbs smell wonderful. The use of these herbal compresses combines the manipulation and medicine branches of the Thai medical system.

The herbal compresses are only made once a consultation has taken place to ensure that they are tailored to a client’ needs. Thai Yoga Herbal Massage treatments will include general line work and, or the inclusion of various therapeutic pressure points depending on the outcome of the consultation.

This treatment requires a minimum of 48 hours notice.
