YOGA BUZZ LUNCHTIME FLOW
Vinyasa flow for worker bees!
When: 1.30 - 2.30pm, Fridays
About: Vinyasa flow yoga refers to the use of the breath and movement to link postures, creating a dynamic flowing sequence. It has grown out of the Ashtanga yoga discipline, which was popularised in Mysore, Southern India, by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during the 1940s.
Like Ashtanga, vinyasa flow is a challenging form of yoga, which creates heat in the body, allowing the muscles to be stretched easily and effectively. A reasonable level of fitness is advantageous, however, as with all types of posture-based yoga, options are offered within the class, to suit a variety of abilities.
Katy’s vinyasa flow classes are set against a backdrop of music, and tend to consist of sun salutations for warming up, and a number of short dynamic sequences which prepare the body for a longer series of postures. Vinyasa flow yoga can be seen as a moving meditation, which leaves the practitioner feeling relaxed, yet energised (Katy calls this the Yoga Buzz!).
The class runs on an ongoing basis, but places are limited, so students are advised to book in blocks of 8 classes - their loyalty is rewarded with a slightly reduced fee!
